It is no secret that American public education needs reforming. While schools in wealthy areas still offer world class educations, schools in poorer areas do not; too often in fact, these schools offer little at all in the way of education.

The smell of Jasmine in Tunisia has wafted across Mediterranean Africa into Egypt, and the road from Tahrir Square now leads into Jordan, Yemen, Bahrain, Libya and Iran. It also leads to Jerusalem. In the wake of these uprisings, it is sad to see that America’s one true ally in the region, Israel, is [...]

In his State of the Union Address last week, President Obama laid out his vision for the future of the American economy. Not surprisingly, one of the first topics he touched upon was education. The terrorists with which the United States is now at war globally represent a tiny fraction of the world’s billion Muslims. America is not a country of intolerance and xenophobia. The great thing about our country is that people are free to be themselves and do as they please so long as they don’t hurt others.

America is built on educated people doing incredible things. Teachers are literally the cornerstones of our society and our way of life.

Admission is free and done completely via random lottery. We’re fighting on the same side in the same battle, but yet there are people who make-us out to be demons. Senator Bill Perkins accuses us of fudging test scores, and nearly everyone is under the misguided perception that we don’t serve children with Individualized Education Plans (IEP), students with special needs. Neither of those things could be farther from the truth.
