Talib Kweli is on a roll. Just six months after the release of his much anticipated Reflection Eternal sequel Kweli is back banging on your eardrum with a new solo record titled Gutter Rainbows. Playing birthday shows for kids may be a great way to meet hot moms and start a new prepubescent fan base, but get a record deal? Seems a bit far fetched if you ask me, but Z02 members Joey Cassata and brothers Paulie and David Zablidowsky (otherwise known as Joey, Paulie Z, and David Z) have been doing pretty well by this formula.

Chester Bennington may have found global success with Linkin Park, but just one day after the release of his new band’s debut album Bennington pumped New York City’s Blender Theatre full of rock mayhem. “I came up with the band name because in the beginnings of making this album, I was partying … we’ll call it partying. It wasn’t much fun, but we partied a lot. And there was a lot of times where I was kind of in a really self-destructive place, and sometimes it felt like you weren’t sure if you were going to make it to the next day.

No doubt the game has changed lyric wise. An overwhelming percentage of artists focus on denigrating others over limitable expenditures on materialistic desires via the internet. “The Last Kiss” will make rappers put their webcams aside and work on their lyrical linguistics.

From start to finish Magnetic is a rollercoaster of liquefied intensity. If you were to put a lump of coal inside one of Xzibit’s pimped out cars and let all 74 bone crushing minutes of this album ride in the sound system, you would end up with a diamond as big as your head.
